It provides the necessary grip for greater comfort. I used it on a 3DS XL Smash Bros edition and it fit without any problems. The only thing I should warn about is that once it's in place, it's very difficult to remove. It doesn't seem to damage the exterior of the console when using it.
The best thing I've bought in my life, it fits perfectly and gives the confidence that the 3DS won't fall. The quality of the material is very high, super comfortable to use and ergonomic at a very low price. Obviously, I will buy again. 5 stars.
