Discussion
Item works great, i was able to use a m42 helicoid with a m42 lens, for macro work. great price and quality. thanks
Did not work with my eos r8 + helios 44-2 lens.
The adapter is well made. It mounts snugly on an eos r. the m42 thread is clean and smooth.
If this adapter is used to mount a m42 lens directly to a canon rf mount (eos r) camera the focus with the lens at infinity will be beyond infinity - the lens is too close to the sensor. Depending on how close focusing the m42 lens is; infinity focus may still be possible (unlikely) but close focusing will be severely limited.
The flange focal distance for the rf mount is 20mm while for m42 it is 45.46 mm. So a 25.46mm long extension tube will be needed to achieve the original focusing range of a m42 lens. I used a combination of two m42 extension tubes with a total length of 20mm and this gave me a reasonable focusing range - even though the close focusing was a bit limited.
The real advantage of having such an adapter is that an eos r camera can be connected to a bunch of existing m42 accessories - macro bellows, telescope and microscope adapters, etc.
It arrived well packaged, everything fine without any issues.
