Useless. you need to line up on exactly right angle to see the reflection of the light. you may well just use the light on your phone to do that. why do you even need this device?

You turn on a light in it using a button. And look through a small glass window that is in it; it will illuminate the hidden camera. I tested it with the webcam at home and it works very well.
