I bought two of these exciters. They were both supposed to be 8 ohm 20 watts each. I connected this to a disc, to check the operation. It smoked the right channels on my marantz. There was smoke coming out of my vintage receiver, then the right channel quit.
I checked both exciters with an ohmmeter, with 20 foot leads installed. They both tested at 4.1 ohms, which leads me to think that these are not 8 ohm exciters, but are 4 ohms each.
I cannot afford to damage high dollar stereo equipment with bogus specifications on things like exciters.
I don't plan on buying any additional exciters from aliexpress.
This was the last of the two exciters i ordered, but the first i had installed. Upon installation on my speaker panel, i tested the unit. The sound quality was terrible, with lots of buzzing and distortion. I continued to test the unit on different speaker outputs and settings. I had no luck in getting the unit to work as expected.
To rule out other possibilities, i removed that exciter, and installed the first one i had received (but not tested). The sound from that exciter was magnificent.
The previous unit is.early defective.
Speakers work, i created a dml speaker with drop ceiling tile, has good sound and its very nice because you can unscrew the driver from the base.
