You just need to connect the cigar jack, and the image quality is sufficient for checking on the baby.
Purchased 2 pieces for use with outdoor lights. The product looks good; we need to see if they will last over time when used in the field. The only drawback at the moment is the slippage of the rod joints, which is not as smooth and immediate either when opening or closing the stand. The locking mechanism in the head is excellent with the secure, functional but not practical mini clip for quick release support. In the video, they show the nails to anchor it to the ground outside in the holes of the legs, but these "nails" are not listed as an option and are not even included in the package, and this is an "error" ... that costs 5 stars!
It can also be used as a ground tripod for a lightweight camera or for Osmo Pocket 3 or 4 to take time-lapse shots. but certainly not for use with a camera..
