Windey Energy Technology Group Co Ltd, a China-based wind turbine manufacturer, has announced its plan to develop the world’s most powerful onshore wind turbine with a capacity of 16 megawatts (MW). This development is a part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region’s Science and Technology Innovation Major Demonstration Project. Windey’s project aims to enhance capabilities in large wind turbine research and development (R&D), advancing technological innovation in land-based wind power and supporting grid integration. The 16MW turbine prototype will be developed with independent intellectual property rights, focusing on breakthroughs in turbine design, blade technology, and stability control.

The introduction of this ultra-large onshore wind turbine is expected to promote the efficient use of onshore wind resources.
