The tripod contains a design error: the vertical slit in the rotary head's holder is cut in the wrong place - not directly over one of the legs. as a result, using that slit to hold the phone in vertical orientation is difficult, because the legs don't extend enough to come under the phone, and the whole tripod+phone falls to its side. a solution is not to over-expand the legs (because this will weaken the support), but to bend each leg in a spiral manner, with about 1/4 of a turn.
