Discussion
I bought 18 and checked all of them.
All check out as genuine optane with latencies that cannot be replicated with nand.
Note that all have a "d" suffix which indicates they are dell oem, so firmware updates requires dell's tooling, which requires windows.
Dell's version also has a quirk where it reports minutes instead of hours in the run time counter, in case the values look alarming after a couple hours, so just divide by 60 for the real value. Some tools will automatically correct for this, but smartctl on linux will not without a custom config.
All updated fine using windows pe.
All appeared new, except the read counts are random... not what you'd expect from an automated test.
Windows booting has definitely become faster than from the HDD.
Even with 16GB, there's enough cache left for things like starting up Xbox and Steam, so it starts up quickly.
It works! The cache is perfect.
Only 1.91gb lifetime writes and 73 power on hours. this is basically brand new! amazing deal
