1. The reader gets so hot within seconds of being mounted that it literally burns to touch. Same on android, windows and linux. It does this with no writing at all, just plugged in. The official samsung adapter never does. I'm now scared to use it with my 1tb samsung pro plus, which cost over 10x what this did.
2. Advertised write speed doesn't match reality. Marketing images say 100mb/s. Across three genuine brand name cards i never got close: 1tb samsung pro plus (rated 130mb/s), 256gb samsung evo plus (rated 100mb/s) and 128gb kingston all topped out around 80mb/s. The heat may be the cause, but it happens in a dry, normal room temperature environment, in intended use, with cards and operating systems the specs page lists as supported. You can't blame the heat for underperformance when the product makes that heat under the exact conditions it's advertised for. All tested brand new out of the box. In my non-legal opinion this is false advertising, unless i got a faulty unit.
