Compact storage expansion module

Add reliable data storage to your embedded projects with this compact Micro SD Card Module. Designed for seamless SPI communication, it supports Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, and other SPI MCUs, making it ideal for logging data, storing files, or saving device settings.

Safe 3.3V operation with level shifting

This module includes a built-in 3.3V regulator and level shifter to protect your SD cards and microcontroller.

It safely interfaces with 5V Arduino systems by regulating voltage down and shifting logic levels without damage risk.

  • Built-in 3.3V voltage regulator to power module
  • Onboard level shifter for 5V to 3.3V logic compatibility
  • Protects SD cards from voltage damage

Customizable header installation

Headers are provided unsoldered, allowing you to choose straight or right-angle pins or use direct wiring to fit your project layout best.

This flexibility supports compact builds and custom configurations convenient for DIY electronics enthusiasts.

  • Headers need to be soldered by the user
  • Supports soldering straight or right-angle headers
  • Enables compact and flexible installations

Wide Micro SD card compatibility

Supports standard Micro SD cards formatted in FAT16 or FAT32, readable on PCs for easy data transfer.

Ideal for expanding storage on various electronics projects requiring non-volatile memory.

  • Compatible with FAT16/FAT32 Micro SD cards
  • Cards can be accessed and formatted on computers
  • Perfect for data logging, audio storage, and configuration files

Easy integration and dimensions

Compact size (18.5mm Γ— 17.5mm) fits easily into your projects and breadboards.

Standard 2.54mm pin pitch makes connections straightforward for prototyping and custom PCBs.

  • Small board size for tight spaces
  • Standard 2.54mm pin spacing
  • Breadboard and PCB friendly

Careful usage notes

Use only the 3.3V pins for module power; never connect 5V directly to I/O pins to avoid damage.

Requires soldering skills; ensure headers are soldered solidly without bridged pins.

Use appropriate SD libraries and correctly initialize SPI pins in your code for proper operation.

  • Do not connect 5V directly to I/O or VCC pins
  • Headers require user soldering with proper tools
  • Include SD library and configure SPI pins in software

Product FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01 What operating voltage does the Micro SD Card Module require?

The module operates at 3.3V logic level and includes a built-in regulator and level shifter for compatibility with 5V systems.

02 Are the pin headers pre-soldered on the module?

No, the pin headers are not soldered; users need to solder them according to their project needs.

03 Which microcontrollers are compatible with this Micro SD Card Module?

It is compatible with Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico, and other SPI-based MCUs.

04 What file systems are supported by the Micro SD cards used with this module?

The module supports Micro SD cards formatted with FAT16 and FAT32 file systems.

05 Can I connect the module’s I/O pins directly to 5V logic?

No, connecting 5V directly to the I/O pins (CS, MOSI, MISO, SCK) will damage the module and SD card; use the 3.3V logic level.

06 What size and type of Micro SD cards does the module support?

The module supports standard Micro SD (TF) cards compatible with FAT16 or FAT32 formatting.

07 Is any soldering skill required to use this module?

Yes, basic soldering skills are required to attach the headers safely as they are not pre-soldered.

08 What should I include in my code to use this Micro SD Card Module?

You need to include the appropriate SD library (e.g., SD.h for Arduino, SD_MMC.h for ESP32) and correctly initialize the SPI pins in your code.

09 What should I do if the module does not detect my SD card?

Check that the card is FAT16 or FAT32 formatted, ensure good contact, and verify the correct Chip Select (CS) pin in your code.

10 What is the physical size of the Micro SD Card Module?

The board measures 18.5mm by 17.5mm with standard 2.54mm pin spacing for breadboard compatibility.

On one of the four modules, the shielding solder joint on the side was not holding, and all the electrical contacts were desoldered, and of course the module was not functioning.

With a precision soldering iron, I was able to reattach the shielding frame and then solder all the contacts in one go. the module is working again.

I think these modules have not been checked and the soldering process has been neglected.
