Apple’s most anticipated device will enter production this year, according to a popular Apple analyst. The tech giant is yet to confirm the existence of this device; however, that alone cannot stop leaks from surfacing. As you might have guessed, we’re talking about the foldable iPhone. We have absolutely no idea if this device will be called the iPhone Fold or iPhone 18 Fold, yet here we are talking about it.
While its arch-rival Samsung is gearing up for the launch of its seventh generation of foldables, Apple is still figuring out ways to build its first. Apparently, the wait for the foldable iPhone may soon be over. Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared some information about the rumoured iPhone Fold. According to him, Foxconn will start manufacturing the foldable iPhones later in the third quarter of 2025 or early in the fourth quarter this year. Kuo mentioned that a lot of components, including the hinge, are yet to be finalized.

The foldable iPhone will feature a Samsung-made display. “Samsung Display (SDC) plans to build annual production capacity for 7–8 million foldable panels to supply the 2026 foldable iPhone. Given that actual production in 2026 may span only a few months, panel shipments that year are likely to fall short of full capacity,” Kuo stated.
In addition to this, he mentioned that Apple has placed an order for 15–20 million foldable iPhones. This is expected to fulfill the demand for the device over a span of two to three years. Mass production of the foldable iPhones is said to begin in the second half of 2026. As per Kuo, the company will ship several million units annually in 2027 and 2028, due to its premium pricing.
Previous leaks have suggested that the foldable iPhone will be exceptionally thin. It is said to measure 5.1mm thick when open and around 9mm to 9.5mm when closed. Meanwhile, the display on the iPhone Fold might measure 5.5 inches when closed and 7.8 inches when open.
Going by the latest report from Kuo, we can expect the foldable iPhone late in 2026 or early in 2027.
