OnePlus gained popularity from its affordable high-end phones. The company saw further success with its mid-range Nord Series. While the brand is gearing up to launch its latest OnePlus Nord 5 smartphones, a leak has appeared suggesting that the brand will soon venture into the gaming phone segment. This isn’t surprising, given a different leak had also hinted towards a OnePlus gaming phone with triggers.
Tipster Yogesh Brar posted on X to reveal that OnePlus is developing a gaming phone. He said that the brand is working on a new “sub-series” aimed at gaming enthusiasts. Yogesh added that the phone is currently in its experimental phase, and its global release is dicey. He might be suggesting that the rumoured phone will be limited to its home country, i.e., China.

The tipster highlighted that the gaming phone from OnePlus will feature a flagship processor, a big battery, and gaming triggers. Other details of the phone are not available at this moment.
There are a few smartphone manufacturers that focus on gaming, with Asus and Poco being the most popular ones. As suggested by the leak, the phone will be a premium offering, which should directly pit it against the Asus ROG lineup of gaming phones.
While the launch timeline of the gaming phone is unknown, OnePlus has confirmed the launch of its upcoming mid-ranger, the OnePlus Nord 5. The phone will debut on July 8. Teasers have revealed that the phone will feature a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, 144Hz high-refresh-rate display, and a 7,300 sq mm vapour chamber for cooling.
