iPhone 17 Pro Series allegedly spotted on Geekbench with a new chipset, beats Snapdragon 8 Elite scores by a whisker

We are moving closer to the launch of the iPhone 17 series, which is expected to bring a major redesign, at least for the Pro models. A recent report suggested that the iPhone 17 might not receive a processor upgrade. However, a Geekbench listing has now appeared, alleging that the iPhone 17 Pro models will be powered by a new chipset, although it will be based on the same manufacturing process.

Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station shared the Geekbench listing (a benchmarking tool used to evaluate CPU, GPU, and AI performance) on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. According to the listing, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be powered by Apple’s unannounced A19 Pro SoC. The processor is expected to stick to TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process, similar to the A18 Pro; however, it will offer enhanced performance in comparison, the tipster mentioned.

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max scored extremely high in the Geekbench listing, achieving a single-core score of 4,000+ and a multi-core score of 10,000+.

    For comparison, Apple’s flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max has a single-core score of 3,490 and a multi-core score of 8,606. Meanwhile, Samsung’s S25 Ultra, powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, obtains a single-core score of 3,060 and a multi-core score of 9,833.

If the benchmark scores for the A19 Pro are accurate, the upcoming iPhone Pro models will have similar raw performance to Android smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s flagship chipset.
